This is a true miniature drawing created with graphite on a textured pale yellow pastel paper. You see it here at its actual size. This piece took approximately 60 hours to draw because the very dark and subtly textured background and foreground had to be built very slowly and with many layers of graphite.

The tranquility of this scene inspired me to draw it, and I composed this piece with a lot of space around the swans to give the feeling of quietness and peace. This work appears in my book Drawing Made Easy: Getting Started.
