How to Draw Fantasy Artwork

The Enchanted Tree
The Enchanted Tree

To draw fantasy artwork, you have to step out of the normal world.

Imagine you’re deep in the woods and the only way through the undergrowth is a narrow path that looks like only rabbits and deer use it.

The path leads to a old tree that’s so large that your fingertips wouldn’t touch if you wrapped your arms around it.

The path leads to a door in the three that’s overgrown with leaves. The door looks as if it’s not sure it wants to be seen, so grasp the handle lightly and pull it open slowly.

As the door opens, an angled light flows out of the tree and makes you glow like a firefly.

This is your portal into the magic realm. Step in, but don’t forget  your sketchbook.

  1. Hey Carol, do you have a break down of the steps you took in creating the enchanted tree like in your other blogs? I’d love to see the techniques you used for this. Thanks
