Drawing is a felt thing. After you’ve been at it for a while, the eye and hand become so coordinated that drawings are created almost entirely by touch. I love that feeling. It fills me up to the top! It satisfies two senses at the same time, and it makes me feel complete.
So many times when I’m teaching someone to draw, I want to turn their head toward the subject and take their hand and draw the lines for them so they can feel the line their eye is seeing. I don’t do that, of course, or they’d never have the joy of making this magical discovery for themselves. I have to sit on my hands, sometimes, and wait patiently for the muse to do her own work. :)
