This daisy was another Drawing Day sketch and I must admit that I chose this flower because it was nearest the edge of the path in our overgrown meadow, and I didn’t want to search any further for a subject. After I sat down with it, though, it grew on me. Its petals went every-which way, and they were fun to draw!
I drew the petals by paying as much attention to the spaces between them as to the petals themselves. I sketched them with a tight thin line, and then switched to a loose side of pencil hatch for the rest of the flower including the inner disc, stem, and leaves. I like the look of precise petals along side those loose dark notes.

Dear Carol,
I simply wanted you to know that this sketch was very inspirational to me. I am currently writing a novel and was searching for the image of a daisy to represent one of the character’s tattoos. Yours was the only picture I was satisfied with. Your art is absolutely lovely.
Sincerely,
Jayne
Hi Jayne,
I think I answered you by email, but if I didn’t I’m sorry for the delay. I’m very happy to hear that my art is inspiring your art! And the circle goes ’round and ’round. :)
Hello Carol,
I am absolutely in love with your drawing. I’ve always loved daisies, they represent the best part of me, my childhood, my dreams. I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment, considering this post was made seven years ago but I will write it anyway. I wanted to ask you if it’s okay to use your drawing as an inspiration for a tattoo. Of course I would never copy it, I know how it must feel to have your hard work simply copied! I’d only show it to a tattoo artist as an example of how I’d like my tattoo to be. It’s completely understandable if you’re not ok with it but I hope you think about it with much love! Thank you in advance,
All the love,
Yanne
Hi Yanne,
It’s fine with me if you want to use my drawing for inspiration for a tattoo. As a matter of fact, you can use the drawing itself, if you want to. I’ll be tickled pick to know someone out there is walking around with my daisy, or some version of it, on them. Please enjoy it!
Carol
Hey Carol! I wanted to let you know that three years later I finally got your daisy tattooed and I absolutely love it! It covered up a scar that reminded of some ugly times and now I have this beautiful drawing on top. Thank you so much for letting me use your work!
Wish you all the best!
Love, Yanne
Hi Yanne, well I’m amazed that someone thought enough of my work to have it tattooed on them! I’m really pleased that you liked the daisy that much and that it helps to cover a scar!! Thank you so much for telling me.
Many hugs to you, Carol
