Practicing meditation regularly has changed all areas of my life, especially how I work on my art. I’ve always had a hard time finishing work. I guess I just don’t like endings. Meditation has taught me to sit with myself as I am in the moment, no matter how that feels. Happiness is a joy to "be" with, but sadness or frustration is much more difficult. I want to distract myself in any way I can to avoid those painful emotions. I’m learning to sit with my art, too, even through the frustration of finding an ending point and the worry of how it will be accepted and embraced by others after it’s done. I think I’m a better artist when I work past my personal emotional agenda in this way. When I step out of the way, more art can into the world through me and speak for itself.
