Drawing is a solid base. It’s the root of many great works of art. It’s my personal base too. As the world buzzes on around me, if I have drawn each day I am rooted and solid. If I haven’t drawn, I’m carried off by every current of life that passes by me. I’ve known this for a long time but I still forget it sometimes. It must be the nature of roots to be below conscious awareness and, so, easily forgotten. This week I make a promise to myself not to forget my roots.
